About me
I have over 10 years of musculoskeletal physiotherapy experience in the NHS within Cambridgeshire. I am continuing to work in the NHS as a First Contact Physiotherapist in a GP surgery, alongside running Cambridge Villages Physiotherapy.
My qualifications include BSc in Physiotherapy, and MSc in Manual Therapy (Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy). I regularly attend additional courses and training events to maintain my up to date knowledge and skills.
I am HCPC registered, member of CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy) and MACP (Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists).
I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2011 and took on a junior rotational physiotherapy role in the NHS at Broomfield Hospital in Essex. I rotated through various departments, including musculoskeletal outpatients, burns and plastics, women's health, stroke, emergency care, care of the elderly, and orthopaedics, among others. This gave me a solid and broad knowledge base for my career.
In 2014, I took a musculoskeletal outpatient position at Addenbrooke's Hospital, which further cemented my knowledge in this area. This role also involved weekend orthopaedic work and hydrotherapy.
In 2015, I took some time for myself to travel, and I had a fantastic experience.
Upon returning, I came back refreshed and initially took a temporary role at Broomfield Hospital, working between the emergency and oncology wards. By the end of 2015, I secured a permanent position with Cambridge Community Services NHS Trust, working in their musculoskeletal outpatient department. In this role, I had the opportunity to develop professionally, and I completed a part-time master's degree in manual therapy alongside it. This degree grants membership to the MACP, a group of physiotherapists who have reached a recognised standard of excellence in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. I achieved a distinction in my master's degree and was elated with the result.
Additionally, I was completing my qualification to become a First Contact Physiotherapist. This role involves additional training to work within GP practices as the first point of contact for patients. It requires knowledge in screening for conditions to rule out any medical causes of symptoms, as well as advanced assessment skills and knowledge of physiotherapy-related conditions to ensure patients receive early management and advice for their problems.
After taking a year of maternity leave, I returned in 2024 to work part-time in the First Contact Physiotherapist role. Alongside this, in November 2024, I launched Cambridge Villages Physiotherapy. This stems from my passion for what I do. I thoroughly enjoy assessing and treating clients, and it brings me great joy to help them achieve their goals in life.
Currently, I split my time between my role at the GP surgery, my private practice, and looking after my daughter.
